Saturday 11 May

Introduction to Foraging – Macclesfield Riverside Park

A chance to learn the basics of foraging and discover edibles all around us, with a professional forager from Totally Wild UK.After arriving we will go through the basics of foraging. Then we head out to discover the vast array of wild edible species that lie all around us. During the Forage your forager will introduce you to a number of edible species giving you tips on harvesting and correct identification. Whilst doing this you will have the opportunity to taste a range of pre-made wild food tasters from chutneys to jams. Booking and payment in advance is essential.

Cost: £25 per adult, children 16 or under go free (One free child place per paying adult).

Rossmill Working Party

Help keep your local park looking good and learn new skills by joining the Bollin Valley Rangers on some conservation tasks. This will include tree pruning, footpath work and balsam bashing. Please bring your own gardening gloves.

Countryside Taster Day

Outdoor excitement and challenge for ALL people with disabilities. Activities such as archery, climbing and crafts suitable for all abilities. Booking and payment in advance is essential. Cost £2 per person.

Printmaking Workshop – Lino and Monoprinting

At Macclesfield Riverside Park there is a wealth of inspiration for images from wooded areas to wildflowers and the lovely River Bollin. Local artists Patty Callaghan and Ann Robertson hope to encourage others to look more closely at these surroundings and explore them on paper, producing their own response in print.

Both linocut and monoprinting will be offered and the course is suitable for complete beginners or those who are looking for further exploration of the media. Each participant should have a finished print at the end of the day.

Work completed on previous course is available to see on  Ann Robertson’s website.This course is repeated on the 15 September 2019.

Booking and payment in advance is essential. All participants must be 16 years or older.

Participants will need to bring their own lunch but tea; coffee and biscuits will be available throughout the day.

Riverside Park Bioblitz

This is the second annual Bioblitz at Macclesfield Riverside Park. Join experts discovering the birds, wildflowers, minibeasts and water life that can be found within the park.

Drop-in activities throughout the day include butterfly walks, pond and river dipping, environmental art, wildlife stands, refreshments and much more……

Balsam Blitz One

The first in a series of Balsam bashing events in the Bollin Valley. This one is in partnership with the Friends of Bowdon Bollin. Help us out on the battle against the alien weeds! No experience needed. Long sleeves and trousers recommended (Gloves can be provided if necessary).

Folklore Walk

Join Bollin Valley Ranger Euan on a leisurely wander around Rossmill exploring the Countryside folklore of what is discovered on the day.
