Alder

Alder thrives in damp cool places and is favoured by seed eating birds such as Siskin. Tea from the buds is supposedly good for rheumatism. Alder supports much of Venice as its timber is resistant to decay under water. Traditionally used to make clogs as it does not conduct heat away from the feet.
